I did some extensive review on iNods.com for all those confused between the HD DVD and Blu-ray.
A normal DVD. DVD & HD-DVD use a 0.6mm layer of clear polymer over the substrate, Blu-ray on the other hand uses only a 0.1mm layer.
Blu-ray has a choice of different storage capacities, 23GB, 25GB or 27GB depending on the pit length. Future versions could even have shorter pit lengths for even more data storage.
HD-DVD on the other hand uses a fixed length for only 15GB storage capacity.
So I think the problem is though HD HVD is a novelity and everything it mihg tbecome obslete before its launch of Blu-Ray is accepted as a standard.
